How to find Dutch investors
Are you looking for investors to grow your business, and enter the Dutch market?
For new companies in The Netherlands, it might be difficult to get a finance or loan from a Dutch retail bank. Especially if these companies are managed by non-resident directors, and/or if the company has no track- record yet in The Netherlands (or overseas).
In order to attract funding in The Netherlands, it’s important to consider alternatives to the traditional bank loan. INCO can inform you of these alternatives, or can advise you in case you do decide to contact a bank. In case you have local business activities, your local bank might be able to help. INCO has experience in getting Trade Finance or Factoring services for companies that deal with Dutch customers.
Getting an ‘SME’ Loan
As a small or medium-sized company, you should consider applying for a so-called MKB-krediet (SME-Loan). One of the most popular financial institutions to provide such loans is Qredits.nl.
The SME loan is a commercial loan of between €50,000 and €250,000. For smaller loans, they can apply for microcredit, a commercial loan up to €50,000.
In order to qualify for this SME Loan you:
1. Are a starting or existing business owner in The Netherlands
2. Have a solid (business) plan
3. Aim for the Dutch market predominantly.
4. It’s not required for the director of the company to be resident in The Netherlands.

Private investors and Business Angels in The Netherlands
In the Netherlands, there are a number of angel networks that are united through the networking organization Business Angels Networks (BAN) Netherlands. The term Business Angels is typically used in the ‘startup ecosystem’, whereas in the more traditional economy we would speak of ‘Private Investors’.

Crowdfunding
Crowdfunding has become popular in the last few years, but is really only suitable for specific kind of businesses. Crowdfunding is especially suitable when you are developing a product, and plan to sell it in The Netherlands. Or when you are aiming for a specific (social) project, for which you need a large base.
There are several crowdfund platforms in The Netherlands where you can pitch your product, service, idea, or business to potential ‘investors’.
Some platforms aim specifically at a sector, whereas others use a more general approach.
It’s important to have a good business and/or marketing plan in place before you contact any platform.
The Crowdfundmarkt and Fundwijzer websites (both available only in Dutch) offer a list of crowdfunding platforms in the Netherlands. The sector association Nederland Crowdfunding offers an overview of their member platforms.
Crowdfunding
In case you are launching a startup, it might be interesting to connect with Venture Capital funds. Such funds invest amounts of several million euros in promising companies. The capital they invest is also referred to as private equity. This means they typically don’t provide a loan but get a stake in your business. During ‘capital weeks’ you can connect with such funds.
