Why Dutch Tax & Accounting Support is important

Before you start your Netherlands company, it’s advised to have a good understanding of the Dutch tax laws and the administrative requirements.

INCO is specialized in dealing with Global Entrepreneurs & Companies, and their tax affairs.

Setting up a company in the Netherlands might save you taxes, for example in case you currently operate in a high-tax country like Germany. However, if you do not carefully deal with your tax affairs, you might even pay taxes twice! (for example, when a tax treaty in not in place).

Global entrepreneurship brings along risks, also on a tax level. Even if your business does not focus on tax savings at all, it’s important to have full oversight of the Dutch tax system.

Each Dutch company should consider:

  • If the company is taxable in the Netherlands in the first place

  • If the company should register for VAT, and how to file VAT returns

  • How to deal with European purchases and sales

  • How and when to file the company’s financial statements

  • The tax requirements involved in appointing staff members (and/or the appointment of a shareholder as director)

  • The tax treatment of incoming and outgoing dividends

  • Invoice requirements

INCO helps you to consider these matters, during the incorporation phase, without any extra charge! We can draft you a Tax Compliance timeline, get in touch to discuss the possibilities.

Besides creating a timeline, INCO can prepare a Legal Opinion or a Tax Memorandum to cover your specific tax situation and questions. We can provide you with a quote for such report, based on the complexity of your case.

Once your company has been set up in the Netherlands, we can assist you during every milestone, and perform the administrative duties of the company. A very important milestone for most new Dutch companies is to obtain a Dutch VAT number, and to file its first VAT return. Our VAT administration services will get you full support, at a fixed fee.

As a global entrepreneur, you should not underestimate the complexity of understanding a new tax system. Although internet provides a lot of information, and online accounting tools can be very convenient. When it comes to taxes, the devil is in the details. Read more about that here

Such details can lead to a lot of extra work, or even penalties, or lengthy tax audits. By appointing INCO as your administrative partner, you avoid such scenarios, so you can focus on your business!

Application of services

As mentioned before, each company is different and unique in its own way. This also applies to the tax position and requirements of each company.

You might be planning to incorporate a subsidiary in the Netherlands or consider a branch registration. Or you might be planning to take over an existing company, or payroll staff. In case you are planning to get funding for your company, it’s important to create realistic forecasts and determine your liquidity position.

INCO has been involved with more than 5.000 entrepreneurs considering starting a company in the Netherlands, and we have actively assisted more than 600 of them. This means we have a very good understanding of any tax or administrative requirement you might have, and chances are, we have done it before.

What you should consider

Before starting the process of forming a company in the Netherlands it is important to be familiar with some of the basic concepts around rules and practices related to the tax and administrative requirements of a Dutch company.

A Dutch business might not pay any taxes in the Netherlands at all, in case it does not generate a profit! Nevertheless, it’s required to prepare Financial Statements, and to file a corporate tax return.

Non profit organisations and NGO’s can be waived from such requirements, and might not have any tax requirements in the Netherlands at all.

The best piece of advice that we can give you, is to give a call (or schedule a call, so we can call you!) to our Tax Consultants to discuss your situation and requirements.
