More information

Are you a Dutch expat, or are you planning to relocate to the Netherlands as an expat

Our Incorporation Team can assist you to start a company and get all your residency affairs in order.
INCO Business group has a long history with SME’s and expats, assisting entrepreneurs to relocate since 2007.

Our aim is to provide you with a smooth landing in The Netherlands, based on your requirements. Even if you are already a resident in The Netherlands, our expertise will simplify the registration a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) or start your BV, while being fully informed on all tax and legal consequences in The Netherlands.

INCO Business Group works with Business Centers and Innovation Hubs throughout The Netherlands (such as B. Amsterdam, Cambridge Innovation Center), as well as expat communities and (semi) government agencies,  like IamExpat, Expat Republic, Expat Center, etc.

Within our community, we can also connect you to Facilitators (to apply for a Startup Visa), or other professional firms(such as realtors, etc.)

In case you are currently an expat (a highly skilled migrant, or student) we can help you convert your current work permit, or apply for an Entrepreneurs Visa.

Why Dutch Expat Services are so convenient!

As an expat in The Netherlands, you might sometimes feel that you need an army of lawyers to deal with all your relocation or ‘expat’ affairs. Even if you find a proper bookkeeper in The Netherlands, he might not understand your residency issues (from tax incentives to obtain your work permit), or vice versa… you might find an immigration expert with no understanding on how to start or grow your business.

Our Dutch Incorporation Team can assist expats from A to Z, offering a one-stop-shop at competitive prices. Our incorporation experts ensure that you successfully launch your company in The Netherlands while getting connected in our vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Perhaps you are not certain yet if you should start your company in The Netherlands. Our incorporation team can help you choose between becoming a contractor/freelancer or an employee and inform you of the legal considerations and residency consequences.

Each expat, planning to start a company in The Netherlands, should consider:

  • How to obtain or maintain the 30% tax-ruling, once you decide to cancel your job, and start a company!

  • How to convert your current work permit, or check if your current residency allows you to start a company

  • If you should register a sole proprietorship, Private Limited (BV), or a partnership entity

  • How to work as a contractor for Dutch companies, without being considered an ‘employee’

  • Which banking requirements and conditions to consider as an expat

  • How and when to file your income tax returns

  • How to write a business plan to apply for a residency permit, or funding

  • How to obtain funding for your new startup as expat

Using INCO’s expat services, you can be certain that all matters that could be relevant for you, will be discussed. In fact, INCO helps you to consider most of these matters, during the incorporation phase, without any extra charge! We can draft you a Tax-Legal Compliance timeline, contact us for more information.

Besides drafting a timeline, INCO can prepare a Legal Opinion or a Memorandum to cover your specific tax/legal situation and questions. We can provide you with a quote for such report, based on the complexity of your case.

Once your company has been set up in the Netherlands, and you have covered your residency permit,  we can assist you during every milestone, and perform the administrative duties of the company.

As a global entrepreneur, you should not underestimate the complexity of understanding a new tax or legal system. Early (bad) decisions that you make in your venture, can have (negative) consequences for your situation. For example, in case you own 24% of the shares of an overseas company, planning to expand in The Netherlands, the type of corporate structure will determine your options to obtain residency. Should you establish a subsidiary in the Netherlands, you would be able to get a residency permit as an employee within 2-3 weeks. But, if due to wrong advice you incorporated an independent company, then you would have to focus on the Entrepreneurs Visa. Which would cost you a lot more time and money.
In a similar way, we see expats that don’t correctly apply for the 30% -ruling, and pay too much taxes for years!

By appointing INCO as your partner to enter a new market as an expat, you avoid such scenarios (time, money and frustration!), so you can focus on your business.

Application of services

When you are moving to The Netherlands as an expat, there are many administrative affairs that you need to consider. INCO has developed a set of services, with fixed fees and clear processes that will allow you to get a full understanding of the requirements and costs that you need to consider.

We have made an overview of typical expat affairs, and described them in more detail in our Business Toolkit, so you can get more familiar with these subjects.

  • Application of a BSN

  • Apply for a 30% ruling (or other expat tax incentives)

  • Apply for a Startup Visa

  • Income Tax Filing for Sole Proprietorship

  • Corporate Income Tax Filing for Private Limited’s

  • Tax Planning & Consulting for Expats

  • Intra Corporate Transfer; Being relocated as employee

  • Drafting General terms and conditions

  • Payrolling Services for expats

What you should consider

When you are an expat in the Netherlands, you are typically (also) taxed as an individual. Even if you work as a freelancer, or start a Sole Proprietorship.

This might be confusing because Private Limited companies are taxed as a separate entity. Before you start your business in The Netherlands, it’s important to have a good understanding, because these tax requirements will define your liquidity, and thus the success of your business!

The best piece of advice that we can give you, is to give a call (or schedule a call, so we can call you!) to our Tax Consultants to discuss your situation and requirements.
